Borough of Lewisham

Grove Park is on the border of the London Borough of Lewisham and Bromley in South East London and is bordered by Sundridge Park, Bromley, Downham, Mottingham, Lee, and Catford. It is particularly attractive for commuters due to the fast train into London Bridge, from which you can access the Northern and Jubilee underground lines. The close proximity to Bromley and Blackheath also make it appealing for those looking for a home in the region of two of the most expensive areas locally whilst being much more affordable.

Properties

Housing in Grove Park is very mixed having only really developed over the last 100 years. Grove Park Station was built in 1871 and a small collection of Victorian homes followed on Baring Road, Chinbrook Road & Coopers Lane. It became much more developed in 1920-30s when private houses were built in and around those three roads including the 'Links Estate' a luxury development opposite Sundridge Park Golf Course... but especially when 'Downham Estate' was built (the largest council estate in Europe at the time) 7000 homes from 1935-1939 which is now estimated to be over 60% privately owned due to the 'right to buy'. Amblecote Road flats and Chinbrook Crescent/Robins Court were built as military accommodation in circa 1938-1945. Grove Park Estate followed in 1940-1945.

The sought-after areas include 'The Links Estate', the Victorian properties in and around Grove Park Station, and the 1930s private houses (including semi-detached chalet bungalows) between Lee/Grove Park.
