In certain roads it only takes one successful planning application, and before you know it the neighbouring properties are falling down like dominoes.
Pampisford Road in leafy South Croydon is such a street. Five years ago the majority of residents lived in substantial detached houses with arguably oversized gardens. Now, the typical Pampisford Road resident owns a smart two bedroom, two bathroom apartment, and is safe in the knowledge that the obligatory new car is secure in the gated car park to the rear.
