Dartford is located in Kent and is bordered by Crayford, Stone, Greenhithe, Longfield, Ebbsfleet, and Swanscombe. Dartford has been given £94 million to create a vibrant and welcoming town centre, including building a brand new cinema, restaurants, houses and a brilliant hotel. As Dartfords future developments the history is not being forgotten. Many of the old buildings and historic features in the town centre are being repaired through the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Did you know?
- Henry VIII built a Manor House in Dartford between 1541-1544, which Anne of Cleves lived in as part of the terms of her divorce. It can still be viewed from the outside but now is used as a wedding venue.
- The Borough of Dartford is home to 11 churches that were included in the Domesday Book. The Holy Trinity Church, in Dartford town centre, was partially built between 1050 and 1080.
- Many Viking settlements have been found in Swanscombe, with many of the bones found being displayed at the Natural History Museum.

Mick Jagger Centre – A live performance facility in Dartford Grammar School, where Mick Jagger was once a pupil. It was opened by Mick Jagger and the Duke of Kent in March 2000

Bluewater shopping centre is located in Greenhithe, a short drive from Dartford, and hosts over 330 shops and over 40 restaurants and bars. Dartford town centre has a busy high street as well as The Priory indoor shopping centre and Prospect Place retail park. All the big high-street names can be found in Dartford, including Sainsbury’s, New Look, Primark, WHSmith, Asda Living, Matalan, M&S Food and TK Maxx. There’s also a traditional weekly market held on Thursdays and Saturdays in Dartford High Street.
