The government's recent stamp duty cut means first-time buyers in England and Northern Ireland will now pay no tax on the first £425,000 of a property (up from £300,000) – this could mean potential savings of up to £11,250!* In addition, the maximum property price for which this relief can be claimed has risen from £500,000 to £625,000.

In addition, the Help to Buy equity loan scheme enables first-time buyers to buy new-build properties with as little as a 5% deposit, with up to 40% of the property’s sale price covered by a government equity loan. The clock is ticking to take advantage of this scheme though, with the last date for first-time buyers to submit their application Monday 31st October 2022.
